GM and Ford’s rear-wheel-drive strategies
posted in Car News Articles |
DETROIT - The snarky answer is that they don’t have any strategies. Follow the gossip about General Motors and Ford Motor Company chasing Chrysler back into the full-size, rear-wheel-drive business, and you’d conclude that GM doesn’t have the guts and Ford doesn’t have the money (see Mike Connor’s post, “Global Rear Drive: Ford Dithers“). Complicating things further, new Corporate Average Fuel Economy standards are making it easy for GM to cut back on the Zeta program. The facts don’t quite support CAFE as the main excuse.
