Cost Of Feeding Pigs & Poultry & Alternative Ingredients

Via
AllAboutFeed.net

Globally, the face of pig and poultry production is changing. The global emphasis on ethanol production has diverted significant proportions of grain away from animal production, thus increasing the cost of feed. This has forced the pig and poultry industries to scrutinise their production methods investigating alternative feed ingredients together with methods of improving productivity and efficiency in order to survive.

    Our Cars–1983 Pontiac Trans-Am

    Submitted by Tass Sontag

I love the Trans-Am’s looks, and now with a stroked 383 cubic-inch V-8 and other goodies, my Garmin GPS system clocked it doing 161 MPH before I got afraid to do more. It’s a real testament to the body design.

Most of the interior pieces came from junkyard Camaros. Yes, it’s badly in need of a paint job. It’s all go, no show!

Why choose a Specialist over a Generalist? Independent over Dealer?

As a specialist we know your car better, especially when it comes to the right way to make economical repairs that a general repair shop wouldn’t know about or a Subaru dealer would never consider. Sometimes a vehicle will develop a pattern failure and a real solution needs to be found or a more economical repair procedure can be had.

Through the years we have found solutions to replacing expensive parts by making repairs to existing components rather than just blindly install new ones. We have been able to become very good at repairs and service work by specializing in Subaru and we try to share this experience with our customer with lower labor prices.

We know what parts we can use on your Subaru without sacrificing longevity. Most automakers have become pure design and assemble companies leaving the parts manufacture to other companies. These auto parts companies are free to sell the same parts in aftermarket channels with out the Subaru logo. While in some cases in only makes sense to stick with Subaru parts especially when it comes to slower moving items that may have not been introduced in the aftermarket by the companies that originally made the parts for Subaru. There is also a good chance that the exact replacement part can be found at a 20% savings if you know how to look (we do).

From top to bottom we really know your Subaru well and want to help you get as many trouble free miles out of it as possible. We have seen these cars go well over 300k and I am the owner of a 1992 Legacy with 292k and counting. We take pride in servicing cars with higher miles and often have suggestions to help keep them going. Even though your Subaru may be getting up there in miles don’t discount just how long they will run.

Ford Ramps Up Investment in Vietnam

HANOI, Vietnam — The Ford Motor Company announced on Tuesday that it will spend $10 million to expand production at its plant that builds such vehicles as the Ford Mondeo here, as it continues to shrink the number of its U.S. plants and workforce.

The expansion at the automaker’s Haiduong assembly plant — described as part of “an aggressive growth strategy” — underscores the growing importance of the ASEAN region to the long-term health of the Dearborn automaker. Ford said the plant expansion in Vietnam will increase annual production capacity by 35 percent and add 130 jobs. The plant currently builds the Ford Mondeo, Everest, Escape, Ranger and Transit van. Ford Vietnam reported record sales in 2007 of nearly 6,000 vehicles, or a 165 percent increase over 2006.

Ford also said it will expand its network of 22 dealerships and outlets here in 2008.

“This additional investment highlights the growing significance of Vietnam in our continued expansion and overall strategy for the Asia Pacific and Africa region,” said David Alden, president of Ford ASEAN.

Ford set up shop in Vietnam in 1995. It describes itself as “one of the largest U.S. investors in the country.”

What this means to you: Ford continues to shift operations to growing global markets. — Anita Lienert, Correspondent

All-New 2009 TSX Makes World Debut at the New York International Auto Show
Newly Redesigned 2009 RL Also Makes Appearance in the Big Apple

Acura provided a one-two punch with the world debut of the all-new second-generation TSX sports sedan along with the appearance of the redesigned RL luxury performance sedan at the New York International Auto Show today. With new engines, refined drivetrain, and Acura’s latest Keen Edge Dynamic styling, the all-new TSX and RL highlight a new direction for Acura sedans.

“With powerful looks and performance, the debut of the new TSX has taken an enthusiastic bite out of the Big Apple,” said Dick Colliver, executive vice president of sales. “Besides offering enhanced performance, the 2009 TSX has improved fuel economy, lower emissions, added safety features, and more technology than ever before.”

Producing 201 hp from a 2.4-liter engine, the DOHC i-VTEC® in-line 4-cylinder now delivers its power across a much wider rpm range. Along with more torque, the new 2.4L is also cleaner as it meets EPA TIER 2-BIN 5 and CARB LEV II Ultra Low Emission Vehicle standards.

Merging crisp, dynamic design with a bold new signature Acura grille, the 2009 TSX is more distinctive and sporty. Due to its greater length and width, wider track, and longer wheelbase, the new TSX provides additional interior room while new fully independent front and rear suspension with dual-stage dampers provides more agile handling.

The TSX is equipped with an impressive list of standard equipment which includes a power glass moonroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, leather seats, power windows/mirrors/locks, a premium 7-speaker sound system (with CD, AM/FM and XM® Radio), Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink®, and USB port and AUX jack music interface.

The available Technology Package features leading-edge electronics including the AcuraLink® Satellite Communication System, Acura Navigation System with Voice Recognition™, AcuraLink® Real-time traffic, Traffic Rerouting™ and AcuraLink® weather. Included in the Technology Package is an audiophiles dream in the form of a 415 watt, 10-speaker Acura/ELS™ Premium Surround Sound System with DVD-Audio designed by Grammy® Award winning producer/engineer Elliot Scheiner.

Designed with an emphasis on safety, the 2009 TSX now makes use of Acura’s esteemed Advanced Compatibility Engineeringâ„¢ (ACEâ„¢) body structure. The 2009 TSX, with ACEâ„¢ and a host of other safety features, is expected to achieve the highest ratings in both governmental (NHTSA)* and independent (IIHS) crash testing - including IIHS’s TOP SAFETY PICK.

Also making its first appearance in New York is Acura’s new 2009 RL luxury sedan which features bold new styling, an all-new 3.7-liter engine, chassis enhancements and numerous technological upgrades. Performance improves with the 2009 RL thanks to a new 300 horsepower V-6 that incorporates the first ever SOHC use of VTEC® valvetrain actuation for both the intake and exhaust valves. The top-of-the-line Acura furthers cutting edge technology with the addition of new high-tech items including AcuraLink® weather, AcuraLink® Traffic Reroutingâ„¢, a new Note function for XM® Radio, Active Sound Control, and Bluetooth® Audio to an already robust list of features found on the previous RL. To enhance handling, new chassis technology abounds in the form of enhanced Super Handling All-Wheel Driveâ„¢, a revised steering system, firmer coil springs, better performing shock absorbers, larger rear stabilizer bar, and larger wheels and tires.

Acura offers a full line of technologically advanced performance luxury vehicles through a network of 268 dealers within the United States. The Acura lineup features five distinctive models including the RL luxury performance sedan, the TL performance luxury sedan, the TSX sports sedan, the turbocharged RDX luxury crossover SUV and the award-winning MDX luxury sport utility vehicle. The more you pay the less likely you are to use the extra gadgets

The Lexus LX570 is an off-roader that ignites debate by its nature, in that it’s so adept off-road that even Lexus admits it’s more capable than the already highly capable Toyota LandCruiser it’s based on.

There are more electronics in the LX570 and a smarter active suspension system – with adjustable height – that gives the Lexus a better chance of staying in contact with the ground over rugged terrain.

Yet I can’t imagine too many Lexus LX570 owners tackling the sand dunes of the Simpson Desert or exploring some of Australia’s less travelled tracks. After all, this is a 4WD that will set you back the best part of $150,000 and has more luxury and features than the average luxury car.

Lexus expects some 20 per cent of LX570 owners to head off-road, which is similar to the percentage of LandCruiser owners that test the mettle of one of the world’s toughest and most capable 4WDs. Although Toyota says those LandCruiser owners are more likely to go off-road more often.

So why, then, does the more expensive model come with more 4WD goodies that will help it go further?

Yeah, yeah, I know in many ways I’m asking a rhetorical question because the answer is in many ways clear; the Lexus is more expensive so justifies more gadgets and is in some ways expected to be better.

But it’s ironic that much of that equipment will probably never be appreciated by owners.

The LX570/LandCruiser example is by no means unique. Various other 4WDs have a similar arrangement, whereby the more expensive version – and the one less likely to utilise its off-road ability – is more capable.

It’s also evident in cars. As a colleague rightly points out, entry-level cars usually have pretty basic sound systems, yet the typically younger buyers are more likely to crank up the volume and really appreciate the sound.

Yet typically older buyers of expensive luxury cars generally get fantastic sound systems that probably won’t be used to their full ability.
