Six-point speeding penalties under consideration
posted in Car News Articles |
Ministers are considering introducing automatic six-point speeding penalties and £100 fines for drivers caught exceeding limits by a large margin - meaning that drivers could face a ban after just two offences.
The six-point penalty could be applied to drivers caught doing 45mph or more in a 30mph zone, 57mph or more in a 40mph zone and over 94mph in a 70mph area, speeds which currently bring a three-point penalty. It will be enforced by the new generation of digital cameras that can calculate average speeds in a given area.
