Renault Scenic (2009): the spy photos

Following hot on the heels of the Renault Megane hatchback at the 2008 Paris motor show will be this MPV version – the new 2009 Scenic. Our spies caught this French-registered prototype testing under a very unflattering plastic bag disguise, thwarting our attempts to see the latest design from Patrick le Quément.

The new midi-MPV is due in showrooms in 2009, a few months after the Megane hatch. French magazines have already shown spy photos of the hatchback, scooped in a customer clinic, and it points to the new look being prepared for the Scenic.

So what’s under that bin-bag disguise?

It’ll be an evolution of today’s look, pepped up with a new nose, fresh surface treatments and less of the ‘wiggling bum’ look pioneered on the current Megane. The 2008 Megane coupe concept from the Geneva show gives a pretty good idea of what to expect.

There will again be two versions of Renault’s new mid-sized people carrier: a five-seater Scenic and an extended-wheelbase Grand Scenic with seven pews. Expect a new generation of sliding seat origami to offer intelligent stowage solutions for limbs and luggage.
