GM and Ford beg Sweden for aid

Ford and General Motors have both approached the Swedish government to appeal for aid.

GM has consistently denied that it wants to sell loss-making Saab, which it bought in 1989, but reports suggest that the Swedish government has been looking into taking an equity stake in the company.
