WASHINGTON — Wondering what to do on Thursday evenings? The National Geographic TV channel has a suggestion: Tour the world’s great auto factories. Its series, Ultimate Factories, will be making detailed visits to show how Rolls-Royce, Chevrolet, Porsche, Ferrari and Lamborghini models go from initial assembly to finished product.
Next up on the schedule is the Rolls-Royce Phantom’s journey from the space-frame construction and body assembly at Unterhallerau and Dingolfing, Germany, through the final hand building and fine finishing touches at Goodwood, England. The saga appears at 8:00 p.m. ET on Thursday, October 8, on the cable channel.
On the previously aired Lamborghini segment, National Geographic went to Sant’agata Bolognese, Italy, to show the hand building of the Murciélago SV.
Following episodes will show the Chevrolet Camaro on October 15 and the Porsche 911 on October 22. Full details are available at National Geographic’s Web site.
