LA Times Investigates Toyota’s Safety Record

In a scathing story in today’s Los Angeles Times, Toyota is painted as a company that has repeatedly covered up safety lapses and product defects. Some have resulted in driver injury and, on more than one occasion, fatalities. According to the Times, Toyota said it had “acted appropriately in product liability cases and in all reporting to federal safety regulators.”
It turns out the recent recall of millions of vehicles over defective floormats is just the most recent issue that has brought a lot of attention to the company’s record.
